About the Opportunity Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for providing specialist geotechnical support to underground coal operations, including strata control, ground support design, hazard identification, and monitoring to ensure the safety, stability, and efficiency of mining activities. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Strata Management Plan Provide specialist geotechnical advice on critical risks, including monitoring, mine design, and ground support systems Conduct regular underground inspections to assess ground conditions and compliance Map geological conditions and verify ground support installations Collect, validate, analyse, and manage geotechnical data and associated databases Lead the design, planning, execution, and review of ground control strategies Apply risk management principles across all site-based activities Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives for strata management standards, procedures, and systems Participate in audits, field observations, and safety inspections on a routine basis Liaise with external consultants and supervise contractors on site About You The successful candidates will display the following skills, experience, attributes and qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or Mining Engineering Proficiency in relevant geotechnical analysis software Demonstrated experience in geotechnical roles within underground coal operations Strong knowledge of rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering principles, and lithological assessment Proven ability to communicate and translate technical information effectively across multiple departments What Sojitz can offer you Competitive Remuneration Salary Packaging options available – remote area benefits Training and development opportunities Please click the link below to apply.
